Move for Dementia

September is World Alzheimers Month, and Move for Dementia is your opportunity to improve your own brain health. You'll be helping to raise vital funds for people living with dementia and their whānau across Aotearoa - to access the support they need to live their best life.

Choose the active challenge you'd like to take on and then get your whānau/family and friends to pledge their financial support for you achieving it. You could:

  • Join an existing sporting event;
  • Get out in nature;
  • Get a team together - to participate together or break up a larger challenge between you;
  • Try something new or have a go at an activity you've always wanted to do; or
  • Be inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore who completed 100 laps of garden during the UK COVID-19 lockdown and raised more than £30 million for charity.

Around 70,000 Kiwis are living with dementia today and that's expected to almost triple to 170,000 by 2050. Almost all of us know or have known someone with dementia. Your donations will be used nationally and locally to help Alzheimers New Zealand provide vital services and support to people living with dementia today.
